About

Hi! My name is Sara Button and I am a human with many interests who currently lives in Marfa, Texas. I've been writing online since 1999 (LiveJournal, whats up!?) and enjoyed creating and building simple content heavy websites while I was in high school and college.

I can best be described as a professional homebody. Iā€™d rather be at home with my family and animals, where I can be found playing with my nephews, organizing & scanning film, petting dogs, reading, etc. In between all of that, I work a full time day job and freelance for the local newspaper, too.

I co-created The Dentonite (2016-2019), an online publication that catered to the lifestyle and goings on in Denton, Texas. I was an event organizer for Help-Portrait: Denton from 2013 through 2017. In 2017, a friend and I came up with an idea to hold an annual event in Denton to raise awareness and funds for Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas. Denton Stands with Planned Parenthoodā€™s first event raised more than $5,000 and our second event a year later generated more than $3,000 in total donations. In 2016 my friend Matthew Sallack and I created a pop-up art show concept to help raise funds for the Denton Community Market. Our events in 2016 & 2017, separately, were the most profitable single-day fundraising efforts the Market had received to date.

I work for a privately held software company as a social media and content manager. Basically, I read and edit website and blog content all day long. (And I love it). Yay words, yay SEO!

I enjoy creating and doing. Feeling and loving. Inspiring others and being inspired by those around me. I choose to live my life with humility and understanding. I feel the need to share. I like to push those around me to better themselves and to step outside of the their comfort levels, as I try to do the same. One thing I've learned since I began my post-college career path is that you might not ever create something truly amazing until you've been pushed to the core of your being. I find that the best work I've created has come from the pressures of being pushed outside of my comfort levels, and for those experiences I am eternally grateful.

I enjoy taking photos on many different cameras, both digital and analog. I am a huge fan of Polaroid and all other types of instant film and have been shooting 35mm since middle school. One of my earliest memories with film was being in the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Washington D.C. in 7th grade and frantically trying to change a roll of film before everyone finished their lunch. Been hooked since. I have had some sort of camera attached to my hand for the last two decades or longer.
